Bad Cookie

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Bad Cookie ("we," "our," or "the Extension") is a privacy-first Chrome extension designed to help you inspect, understand, and remove cookies and site data.

We believe your browsing data is yours. This Privacy Policy explains our strict "local-only" data practices and how we handle licensing for paid features.

1. Data Collection and Processing (100% Local)

Bad Cookie is built to operate locally on your device.

  • Browsing Data & Cookies: All cookie inspection, security checks, risk rating assessments, and removal actions happen locally within your browser.
  • No Remote Servers: We do not collect, transmit, upload, or store your browsing history, cookie values, or site data on any Bad Cookie servers.
  • No Analytics: We do not track your usage of the extension using external analytics scripts.

2. Permissions Justification (Limited Use Compliance)

In compliance with the Chrome Web Store's Limited Use Policy, Bad Cookie requests the minimum permissions necessary for its single core purpose: inspecting and managing browser cookies.

  • cookies & browsingData: Required to read, assess, and delete cookies and local storage (such as IndexedDB and Cache) on the sites you visit.
  • storage: Required to save your extension settings locally on your device.

We certify that we do not sell your data to third parties, nor do we use it for unrelated purposes such as advertising or creditworthiness.

3. Third-Party Services (ExtensionPay & Stripe)

To provide premium features, Bad Cookie uses ExtensionPay to handle licensing and payment status.

  • Anonymous Usage: Users are completely anonymous until they choose to purchase a license.
  • Payment Processing: When you initiate a purchase, ExtensionPay communicates securely with extensionpay.com. Payment details (like credit card numbers) are processed securely by Stripe. Bad Cookie never sees, processes, or stores your financial information.
  • Email Collection: Upon successful payment, ExtensionPay collects your email address solely to issue and manage your license.

For more information on how these processors handle your data, please review the ExtensionPay Privacy Policy and the Stripe Privacy Policy.

4. Changes to this Policy

If our data handling practices ever change, we will proactively notify you and update this policy prior to implementation, as required by the Chrome Web Store rules.
